Learn more about the Plein Air painting process as several of our talented members paint local scenes in Slater Memorial Park. This event is free to attend, and a wonderful opportunity to interact with artists as they create their work.

During the daytime of September 9th and 10th, RIWS will have a Plein Air Painting event at the gallery, consisting of several talented members of the Society. The public is encouraged to watch the RIWS artists while they paint a local scene in the park. This is also a wonderful opportunity to interact with the artists as they create their work. Too often, artists work in their studios and their process remains a mystery to the general public. With the RIWS Plein Air event, the artistic process is out in the open air for everyone to see and interact with both the artist and the process. This interaction has tremendous value, as it makes art and artists more accessible. The artists will also have their work available for sale, both inside and outside the gallery, at a fair and affordable price in a tax-free zone.
